There’s something magical about the last few days of the school year. You can feel it in the air, that electric mix of exhaustion and anticipation, the kind where everyone is running on fumes but also buzzing with the knowledge that freedom is this close. This weekend, the boys and I sat down on the couch and decided to write out our to do list for our summer. When they were little we would do this every year with a big piece of paper, a handful of markers that were way too dried out to actually work (we made it work), and a shared mission. making our official Summer Bucket List. Somethings never change and I hope that they always want to do a summer bucket list with me. I know that at the end of August they start high school and seeing so many of my friends these past weekends having their babies graduating. Making me feel a little anxiety that its all going so fast.
But when we were making the list, watching their faces light up as they shouted out ideas, arguing over whether "eat ice cream for breakfast" was a legitimate life choice (I voted yes, obviously), and adding things I would have never thought of in a million years was the reset I didn’t know I needed. We’ve got just about 8 more days of early alarms and packed days that soon we will trade it all in for late mornings, and the kind of chaos that only comes when school is officially out.
I’m so excited to share our list with you. Not just because it’s full of adventure and a little bit of ridiculousness, but because I’m making a promise to myself to actually do the things on it. No letting the summer slip away while I scroll on my phone. This summer, we are showing up for the moments.
So here it is. Our Summer Bucket List. And every single thing we check off, I’ll be sharing a photo right here and on social media so we can document the whole messy, wonderful ride together. If you think of a must or two we have to add please comment below!
