There’s a little secret rolling around Kitsap County, and it’s about time we shared it. When I put out a call looking to highlight women in business, I had no idea I’d stumble upon something this special. Tucked inside a beautifully renovated truck is a brand-new barbershop concept that is equal parts grit, heart, and fresh lather. After nearly a decade in the hair industry, this talented stylist officially opened her own doors — or rather, truck doors — on October 3rd, 2025. While she may be new to business ownership, she is no stranger to hard work, resilience, or dreaming big.
Her journey into entrepreneurship wasn’t the traditional fairytale. In fact, it was being let go from a previous shop that became the unexpected tipping point. With hurt feelings but a determined spirit, she realized the only real reason not to try was fear. And after feeling like she had already “failed” the traditional route, she decided she might as well bet on herself. That leap of faith resulted in one of the most unique mobile barbershops our community has seen — a space where hot towel head shaves are an art form and the scent of warm lather alone could convince you to shave your head just for the experience.
Before planting roots here, she moved to Kitsap County four years ago to help open a new candy shop in Poulsbo. Today, that sweet success story is fully run and operated by her mother, Marsha Harris, owner of Poulsbo Candy Shoppe. Entrepreneurship clearly runs in the family — her sister, Sarah Espy, owns Tea Alchemy — and the legacy of women building bold businesses is something she’s proud to pass down to her own daughters. In fact, when asked what she’s most proud of as a business owner, her answer had nothing to do with revenue or growth. It was teaching her girls not to let others define who they are or what they’re capable of.
Inside her mobile shop, work doesn’t feel transactional. She celebrates wins in truckloads — not just business milestones, but the everyday victories of her guests. There’s something powerful about watching someone sit a little taller after a fresh cut, hearing about their promotions, engagements, or life changes, and becoming part of their story. She lights up talking about loyal clients, the easy ones and the sassy ones alike. The “undesirables” even hold a special place in her heart. To her, the best client is simply a happy, friendly, paying guest who feels seen and leaves smelling incredible.

Starting a business from scratch meant diving headfirst into permits, licenses, and late-night Google searches. She jokes that “navigate” sounds far more graceful than what she actually did — which was plow through information, make mistakes, and learn by doing. Along the way, she discovered just how resilient she truly is. Every step of the process felt like both a new adventure and a healing of past experiences. She hasn’t quite figured out boundaries yet — work and life are beautifully mushed together — but she’s intentional about keeping space for her children and preserving energy to truly listen to them at the end of the day.
When she’s not behind the barber chair, you’ll likely find her and her daughters enjoying dinner at Hakata Japanese Restaurant, browsing craft aisles at Michaels, or picking out sweet treats from Monica's Bakery. Nail days at NBar Nails and Spa and record hunting at Rockin' Ruby's Records or Bigfoot Music round out their girlie adventures.
Looking ahead five years, she sees this little truck becoming a booming hidden treasure — a first choice for men’s grooming and especially for grooms wanting something elevated and memorable. She dreams of rolling into corporate spaces a few days each month, offering employees quality cuts without ever leaving their workplace. The truck itself remains her most rewarding investment — unique, eye-catching, and sparking curiosity everywhere it parks.
What surprises her most? That people are just as excited as she is. That they love it. That they choose her. And if you ask me, that excitement isn’t surprising at all. Because when someone builds something from resilience, passion, and heart, the community feels it. And Kitsap just might have found its newest secret treasure.Mobile Barbershop Offering High Quality Grooming Experience. We offer only the best products made in the USA.
