I’m Stacey Pimm

I juggle so many hats, as a digital content creator, author of a children’s book series, twin mama, chaos coordinator all the while trying to navigate the teenage era, book girlie, Type one diabetic, going blind, dance in the kitchen while being a baking master, always licking the spoon! hotel hopper, experimenting with what my Nana did during The Great Depression, PNW born and raised, lover of the ocean and rain, and just as much as a palm tree and warm breeze lover. And now your new friend!

That was a lot to describe, but I am hoping something will resonate with you! My goal with writing this blog is to have you come with me as I journey through this next chapter, finding my voice as I listen to yours.

Kaydenze: Heart, and Horsepower — The Sweet Soul Behind the Wheel

I first heard about Kaydenze’s story through my friend Nicole, who told me, almost without hesitation, that this was a story I needed to tell. She spoke about Kaydenze with such admiration, such certainty, that I knew right away there was something special here. And she was absolutely right. From the moment I began learning more about Kaydenze, I was struck not just by everything she has accomplished, but by who she is at her core.

Kaydenze is the kind of person who quietly leaves an impression on everyone she meets. She is sweet, grounded, and genuinely kind in a way that feels rare. There is a softness to her presence, a warmth that makes you feel instantly at ease. And yet, behind that gentle spirit is a strength that is nothing short of remarkable. She is an outstanding young woman, navigating life with a level of determination and heart that goes far beyond her years.

What makes her story even more incredible is the contrast that defines it. On one hand, you have Kaydenze on the soccer field, playing at both the varsity level and in club leagues, fully immersed in a sport that demands discipline, teamwork, and focus. Watching her there, you would see a dedicated athlete, a teammate, a teenage girl chasing goals and pushing herself to be better every day. You would never guess that this same girl is also climbing into a demolition derby car, helmet on, ready to take on one of the most physically intense and adrenaline-filled sports out there.

And that is what makes Kaydenze so inspiring. She does not fit into a single box. She is not just one thing. She is both strong and soft, fearless and kind, competitive and compassionate. She is redefining what it looks like to be a young woman pursuing her passions without limits or expectations holding her back.

There is something deeply moving about seeing someone so young carry themselves with this kind of purpose. Kaydenze is not just chasing a dream, she is living it, all while lifting others up along the way. She represents the kind of role model that so many young girls need, someone who shows that you can be exactly who you are and still do extraordinary things.

Nicole was right. This is a story that needed to be told. And more than that, it is a story that reminds us all just how powerful passion, kindness, and determination can be when they come together in one incredible young person like Kaydenze.

There is something deeply powerful about watching a dream take shape, especially when it begins in the stands of a small-town track and grows into the roar of an engine beneath your own hands. For Kaydenze, demolition derby is not just a sport, it is the realization of a dream that has been quietly building for years. This year marks her first season competing in the all-adult demolition derby circuit, a milestone that feels both exhilarating and hard-earned. Just one year ago, Kaydenze was competing in youth events, already proving her grit and determination by taking first place in Port Angeles and earning Rookie of the Year in Forks. What started as admiration for the drivers she watched as a child quickly turned into a passion she could no longer ignore.

The moment that truly set everything in motion came as a complete surprise. Kaydenze’s mom gifted her a derby car, a gesture that changed everything. What she did not expect was that the same car would carry her into the adult derby season. That single act of belief lit a fire, but it was the community around her that kept it burning. Even while being stationed in Colorado, far from home, Kaydenze found herself surrounded by a “derby family” who stepped in, supported her, and helped build something far bigger than just a car. It became a symbol of teamwork, dedication, and shared passion. The long list of people who showed up to help build, repair, and encourage her is not something she takes lightly. It is something Kaydenze carries with her every time she steps into the driver’s seat.

Kaydenze’s journey has not been without challenges. Managing the financial demands of derby, especially while traveling back to Washington for events, has required creativity, sacrifice, and determination. From pet sitting and babysitting on base to saving every dollar possible, she has learned firsthand what it means to invest in your own dreams. Along the way, she has also discovered something even more valuable than funding or equipment. She has learned accountability. She has learned to speak up, to take initiative, and to rely on her own voice when it matters most.

Despite the challenges, the rewards have been undeniable. There is a joy in the chaos of derby that outsiders might not understand, but for Kaydenze, it is everything. It is the laughter shared with friends and family after a race, often gathered together at Buffalo Wild Wings, replaying the day’s events and celebrating every dent and victory. It is the connection, the camaraderie, and the shared love for something that brings people together in the most genuine way. It is also the opportunity to be something more than just a competitor. Kaydenze has become a role model, especially for young girls who might be watching from the stands just like she once did. She wants them to see that there is space for them here, that strength comes in many forms, and that their dreams are worth chasing.

This season is already shaping up to be an exciting one, with multiple events scheduled at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds and appearances in local parades, including Armed Forces Day and Whaling Days. If you happen to see a bright pink number 16 car rolling through, you are not just seeing a derby vehicle, you are seeing Kaydenze’s story in motion. She is even collecting stuffed animals to hand out during parades, a small but meaningful way to give back and connect with the community that continues to support her.

What makes Kaydenze’s story so compelling is not just the wins or the milestones, but the heart behind it all. She speaks often about her gratitude for her sponsors, her family, and her friends, recognizing that none of this would be possible without them. In return, she is committed to lifting them up, promoting their businesses, and representing them with pride through custom apparel and parade displays. It is a full circle moment of support and appreciation that reflects the true spirit of community.

Looking ahead, Kaydenze’s vision is clear. In five years, she hopes to be a success not just in the sport, but as an example. She wants to prove that hard work, resilience, and belief can take you further than you ever imagined. She wants to continue breaking expectations and inspiring others to do the same. And perhaps most importantly, she wants to keep that same sense of joy and passion that started it all.

At the end of the day, demolition derby is more than crashing cars. For Kaydenze, it is about purpose, connection, and proving to herself and others that anything is possible when you commit fully to your dream.
